Hannah Winnick joined the Foundation’s team in 2015 to launch its Democracy Program, which aims to bring Americans and Europeans together to tackle challenges to democracy. She brings a strong focus on migration, asylum, and integration policy.

Prior to joining the Foundation, Hannah worked as Transnational Liaison at Hispanics in Philanthropy (HIP), an organization dedicated to strengthening the Latino nonprofit sector in the US and Latin America. She has also worked with LEAD, the Mercator Capacity Building Center for Leadership and Advocacy in Berlin, to examine new models of leadership in German diplomacy. As a dual German-American citizen, Hannah brings a broad range of international experience, having lived, worked, and studied in Germany, France, Turkey, the Dominican Republic, Israel and Portugal.

Hannah holds a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, where she focused on international negotiation and conflict resolution and was awarded the Jane Mansbridge Award for researching women’s access to peace negotiations. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Amherst College. Hannah lives with her wife in Washington, DC.
