Jessica Nogueira Varela
Jessica Nogueira Varela is an Afro-Brazilian doctoral candidate in Comparative Gender Studies at Central European University. Her Ph.D. research, titled “Gendering Blackness, Migration, Coloniality: Una Marson, Claudia Jones, and Audre Lorde in the U.K. and Germany (1932-1992),” asks how Marson, Jones, and Lorde experienced, articulated, and responded to processes of gendered racialization as black women migrants in Great Britain and Germany.
