6 May 2014 (Tuesday), 10.00-14.15
Polish Institute of International Affairs

1a Warecka Street, Warsaw
Conference room, 1st floor

Polish Institute of International Affairs and Heinrich Böll Foundation in Warsaw are pleased to invite you to the seminar on  EU’s legitimacy crisis.

The concept of the EU-legitimacy crisis can be found in many political speeches and expert analysis. The forthcoming European elections constitute a good opportunity to address the issue both from the national and European perspective. With representatives of various think-tanks we will look at the scale of the phenomenon, ways of manifestation, differences between the member states and narratives of the national debates towards the strengthening of euro-sceptical forces. We shall discuss also possible and already implemented measures to counteract euro-scepticism on the level of the European and national parliaments. We will try to predict the consequences of a greater number of euro-sceptical deputies for the functioning of the European parliament itself and its cooperation with other EU-institutions.

The meeting will be held in English. Those wishing to attend are kindly requested to confirm by 5 May 2014 via phone, /70, or e-mail, konferencje@pism.pl
